The town Hradaec Králové takes the meaningful position in Czech history. The locality on the confluent of the Labe and Orlice rivers was colonized as far back as 10th century. The stronghold with its vicinity was constituted as a king’s town in the year 1225. The Hussite revolution was also an important period of this town. The sepulchre of great army-leader Jan Žížka from Trocnov is at the church of St Spirit (1424). The town Hradec Králové was proclaimed as an independent town in the year 1851. The railway was built in the year 1857. The famed factory Antonín Petrof (production of grand piano) was founded in 1864. Cultural self-realization: Visitors can view many historical buildings, churches, museums, theatres and other interesting objects. You can step out onto tower that overlooked the whole town; the famous gothic cathedral of Holy Spirit and the baroque church of Ascension Day of Our Lady. In the early evening you can walk along the romantic town alleyways with arcade or visit the modern pedestrian zone in the city centre. You’ll do some shopping at the shopping centre Carrefour, Interspar, Tesco or Hypernova.
